The Local Mental Health Council

The Local Council for Mental Health (CLSM) is a forum for consultation and coordination between local elected officials, public psychiatric services, social and medical-social services, educational players, users, and caregivers.

It defines and implements local policies and actions to improve prevention and the mental health care pathway.

3114, the national suicide prevention number

If you are in distress and/or have suicidal thoughts, if you want to help someone who is suffering, you can contact the national suicide prevention number, 3114, accessible 24/7, free of charge, throughout France.

A care professional, specifically trained in suicide prevention, will be there to listen to you.

3114 is piloted by the Ministry of Health and Prevention.

International Suicide Prevention Day

On the occasion of International Suicide Prevention Day, which takes place every year on September 10, 3114 has entered into a partnership with the City of Montpellier to make the suicide prevention number visible to the general public. The national scheme can count on the mobilization of the City with the support of professionals from the response center, supported by Montpellier University Hospital, to create the event and spread prevention messages to Montpellier residents.

Some figures:

  • 18 response centers open, spread throughout France in mainland France and overseas
  • +400,000 calls received per year
  • 1,200 calls received, on average, every day
  • +250 professionals mobilized
