Montpellier, games preparation center (CPJ)

In 2020, Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, the Communauté de Communes de Millau Grands Causses and Sète Agglopôle Méditerranée, have together been awarded the "Terre de Jeux 2024" label and the status of Games preparation center by the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (COJOP).
Their joint approach is to join forces to attract a wide range of national and international sports delegations and provide the best possible support for athletes in their preparation.
Quality of infrastructures, a wealth of sports facilities, an exceptional geographical setting, between sea, nature and urban environment, all at the service of very high performance... These 3 territories have been able to offer the best to high-level athletes.

Montpellier, "Land of the 2024 Games

Holder of the "Terre de Jeux 2024" label, on the occasion of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Montpellier is working for the practice of sport to be more developed and inclusive.
In this logic, all the territories of the metropolis have thus mobilized in preparation for this Olympiad. As a stopover city for the flame, a symbol of peace and unity between peoples, Montpellier has also hosted the Olympic torch relay on May 13, 2024 and the Paralympic torch relay on August 25, 2024.
Two days during which festive, popular, free and open-to-all times were offered around the values of sport, Olympism and Paralympism.
They came to train in Montpellier
Montpellier welcomed numerous French and foreign sports delegations for their preparation:
- 17 nations
- 400 athletes hosted
- 300 days of hospitality
- 12 sports facilities used
Among them:
- May 26, 2024: Montpellier hosted the Australian women's rugby sevens delegation in training from May 21 to 26
- October 18, 2023: The French women's sabre team in training in Montpellier until October 20
- September 7, 2023: A welcoming ceremony organized at the Hôtel de Ville in honor of the Manu Samoa - rugby
- August 11, 2023: Montpellier welcomes the Australian and New Zealand athletics delegations for a training camp
- May 9, 2023: 4 delegations welcomed to Montpellier to celebrate sport
