How the city works

Temps de lecture : 1 minute

The City of Montpellier is steered by the municipal council (65 elected members), made up of the mayor, his deputies and all city councillors, who draw on the skills of an administration of 3,700 agents. Elected representatives vote on the resolutions that set the direction of public policies, which are then implemented by the administration.

Citizens are welcomed at the Town Hall, but also in the mairie annexe à Aiguelongue and the 4 mairies de proximité (Aubes-Pompignane, François Villon, Mosson and Tastavin).

Montpellier implements a policy of local democracy by leading multiple bodies and services to involve the population in shaping its public policies.

Local democracy also means going out to meet the population. Concertations, public and neighborhood meetings are proposed by elected officials and departments. The aim is to discuss projects, answer questions and gather feedback.
