The heritage of the Metropole of Montpellier includes:
- Written and graphic documents, from medieval manuscripts to contemporary digital files, preserved at the Archives de Montpellier and at the médiathèque Émile Zola.
- Practices, traditions and know-how (intangible heritage) that the Metropole is making sustainable by supporting committed academic and associative players.
- Archaeological remains, natural heritage, landscapes...
The Metropole is engaging in a mediation policy that is part of the dynamic launched by the Pays d'art et d'histoire label.
Restoring our heritage
In 2022, the Metropole of Montpellier is launching a support fund aimed at restoring the heritage of the territory's communes and associations. This fund concerns properties of recognized heritage quality, whether or not protected as historic monuments, and located within the territory of the Metropole. The total cost of restoration operations must be between €2,000 and €500,000 excluding VAT.
The grant awarded by the Metropole can be up to 50% of the amount excluding VAT. The communes and associations concerned can submit their applications from January 1 to March 31.
