Holder of the "Ville active et sportive" 2022-2024 label (distinction of 4 laurels), Montpellier is certainly a dynamic territory on the sports front.
Its sports policy aims to be ambitious, inclusive and accessible to all levels of practice. Indeed, Montpellier is strongly committed to women's sport, and supports local sports clubs in the training of sportsmen and women, who carry out social actions with children.

Land of Games 2024

On the occasion of the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games held from July 26 to September 8, 2024, the Organizing Committee designated Montpellier "Terre de Jeux 2024".
The city thus hosted the Land of Games Forum, housed the Olympic and Paralympic torch relay route, and served as a preparation center for French and foreign delegations.
Swimming pool plan 2023-2028

After a diagnosis of all its aquatic real estate Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole is launching its 2023-2028 swimming pool plan.
3 objectives:
- Accompany all aquatic practices by integrating the "Savoir nager" and "Aisance aquatique" schemes, and by developing specific actions for health, disabilities and City policy districts;
- Realize the renovation and construction of swimming pools by modernizing facilities with a view to sustainable development;
- Improve public service at swimming pools by strengthening communication, hygiene, safety, the services offered and optimizing human resources management.
