Free, secular public support

Offering students in difficulty the help they can't always get at home to learn and do their homework. This is the aim of the quality programs offered throughout the region and financed by the town to give families a choice and support the schooling and success of all pupils.
Temps de lecture : 3 minutes

A strong commitment from the city

A strong commitment by the municipality, the introduction of free, secular public tutoring is one of the first measures decided in July 2020. Launched in November 2020, the aim of this scheme is to offer all families, whatever their financial means, an opportunity for tutoring outside the commercial or denominational offer.

Volunteer teachers and qualified animators thus accompany children in the acquisition of knowledge.

In figures:

  • Almost 1 million euros committed by the city in favor of tutoring.
  • Nearly 2,500 pupils benefit from tutoring in schools.
  • Nearly 2,500 pupils benefit from the program in media libraries.
  • 12 children per group on average.
  • 413 teachers mobilized and recruited by the city to ensure supervision and coordination.
  • 59 slots open to the public in 13 Maisons pour tous and run by 17 associations.

Workshops offered on Wednesdays and run by the Ligue de l'Enseignement that include:

  • Philosophy workshops,
  • Time dedicated to homework,
  • Themed workshops (examples: moi, ma ville, la fraternité...),

Each student follows a personalized program, renewed after each vacation period. This approach enables all students to make progress, while developing their independence in doing their homework.

This tutoring allows for a sustained exchange with parents and media library staff, with sessions to discover the media libraries.
