25 ha of Aleppo pine, holm oak, garrigue and riparian forest are preserved along the Mosson, the city's 2nd most important waterway. The Mediterranean riparian zone is a riverside forest composed of poplars, narrow-leaved ashes, white oaks and maples. The Mosson River and its riparian zone play a major role in preserving biodiversity.
They constitute one of the city's major ecological corridors, allowing the passage of numerous rare and endangered species: birds, insects, reptiles, amphibians and mammals.
