Beyond their ecological functions, trees also have an important social and aesthetic dimension. They help to beautify the urban landscape, create spaces for relaxation and conviviality, and improve the psychological well-being of city dwellers.
The Montpellier Tree Charter is a valuable tool to guide the management and preservation of the city's tree heritage. The charter defines best practices for planting, maintaining and protecting trees in the urban environment. It is aimed at all those involved in urban development, from decision-makers to amateur gardeners.
