The right gestures

Here are a few tips for reducing waste from grass clippings, hedge trimmings and other green waste:
- Composting: place your waste in a pile in a corner of your garden. It will compost naturally. Turn the pile periodically and water it if it's too dry.
- Shredding with a lawnmower: spread your small waste in a thin layer, including branches up to a cm in diameter. Run the mower over them slowly. The shredded material can be used as mulch or for your composter.
- Mulching : keep your grass clippings on the lawn to nourish it.
- Mulching: to protect and fertilize your soil, place dried grass clippings, dead leaves and branches at the foot of hedges, flower beds or vegetable garden plants.
- As far as possible, limit your production of green waste by postponing your gardening and pruning work.
- Toxic waste (solvents, paints...) must never be disposed of in the grey garbage can.
