This year once again, the city and metropolis of Montpellier are joining forces with the Fête de la Nature to celebrate nature together.

From May 21 to 25, 2025, numerous free events are on offer for families, notably by the ecolothèque, Montpellier Zoo but also Maisons pour tous, media libraries and associations.

Nature Festival

This national event, adapted at the local level, aims to bring citizens closer to the nature that surrounds them and to raise public awareness about the preservation of biodiversity. Through fun, educational, and participatory activities, this new edition will highlight the richness of the natural environments present in the community, as well as the possible actions to protect them on a daily basis. Open to all audiences, this spring gathering is intended to be friendly, educational, and accessible, fostering exchanges among residents around local environmental issues. Wednesday, May 20 - 2 PM to 4 PM / Media Library Workshop “Recycled Illustration” in the style of Christian Voltz Author and visual artist, Christian Voltz creates three-dimensional illustrations for his children's books using various recycled objects (springs, nails, screws, rusty scrap metal, polished wood, pieces of string, and other buttons). This workshop invites you to draw inspiration from his artistic approach to create your own work. Semi-autonomous workshop for ages 6 and up accompanied by an adult. Friday, May 22 - 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM / Rabelais Space Workshop “The Biodiversity Mural” Through a fun, collaborative, visual, and accessible workshop for all (ages 15 and up), come understand the stakes and pressures surrounding biodiversity. As part of the Nature Festival, the Albert Camus media library invites you on Wednesday, May 20, to a special day dedicated to our little friends, the insects, with 2 workshops: Insect Factory Artistic workshop, from 10:30 AM to 12 PM To celebrate the Nature Festival, the media library invites you to create your own cardboard insects! Cut, assemble, decorate... And give birth to a small swarm of imaginary critters! Ages 6 and up. Discovering Insects Scientific workshop, from 2:30 PM to 4 PM Get your magnifying glasses ready! Through the analysis of recent scientific observations, visitors will discover how climate change is transforming the garden's flora and dictating new adaptation strategies for plants.
