In partnership with IUMAT Rosas, Early Music and Klezmer With roses wandering through the lyrics of the melodies, the Oper'Azul company invites us on a sensitive musical journey, blending ancient European music with Jewish traditions, in this program entitled "Rosas." Klezmer, the musical tradition of Ashkenazi Jews, draws its roots from the music of the Middle East, Central Europe, and the East, borrowing from Slavic and Gypsy influences. Marked by travel, exile, and nostalgia, this music is nonetheless a celebration of the joy and pride of a people. In this musical dialogue, the artists of Oper'Azul have chosen to bring the varied sounds of klezmer to life with works from the great medieval song collections of Western Europe from the 12th and 13th centuries, but also from the madrigals of Monteverdi at the end of the Renaissance, and the prayers of Handel and Purcell at the height of the Baroque era. Sephardic melodies, the songs of the medieval Jews of the Iberian Peninsula, also find their natural place in this musical conversation, thus enriching this exploration of music with multiple roots.
