Support fund for metropolitan heritage
Montpellier is committed to protecting, enhancing and passing on its metropolitan heritage, both today and tomorrow. It is also the first metropolis to obtain the "Pays d'art et d'histoire" label in 2020, rewarding its commitment.
To go even further, in 2023 the Metropole of Montpellier launched a scheme to support restoration projects for the built and movable heritage of its 31 constituent communes.
Creation of a fund to support heritage restoration
Another action supporting this objective: the creation of a Heritage Restoration Support Fund for communes and associations in its territory.
Voted by the Metropolitan Council on May 31, 2022, it concerns properties of recognized heritage quality, whether or not protected as historic monuments, and located within the territory of the Metropole.
Eligible for the fund are restoration operations with a total cost of between 2.000 and €500,000 excl. tax (including preliminary studies and construction work).
The grant awarded by the Metropole can amount to up to 50% of the project's total cost excl. tax, without however exceeding the share of financing assumed by the project owner.
How can I benefit from the support fund?
The following are concerned: communes and associations concerned with preserving their built and movable heritage in order to pass it on to future generations, improve the living environment of inhabitants and develop the attractiveness of their territory. Applications can be submitted from January 1 to March 31.
- For communes, applications can be submitted to the following address: fonds.patrimoines@montpellier3m.fr
- For associations, applications can be submitted directly to the Metropole's aid portal:
