Welcome to the 20th truffle festival!

As every year, Saint-Geniès-des-Mourgues looks forward to seeing you on the second Sunday in January for its traditional Truffle Festival. This year, it's Sunday, January 11, 2026.

Organized with the support of the Syndicat des Producteurs de Truffes de l'Hérault, this date marks the opening of the local festivals. With the support of associations and producers, our region has embarked on a partnership approach to raise public awareness of the challenges of sustainable food and virtuous agricultural practices.

This event will be an opportunity to talk with truffle growers and discover and enjoy their age-old know-how. Come and taste and discover the qualities of the "black diamond" in a convivial atmosphere during this day punctuated by numerous animations and demonstrations. We wish you all a very happy festival.

Entertainment program

Free entertainment all day:

  • From 7:30 am: Quality control on truffles offered for sale
  • 8:30 am: Market opening
  • 10 am:
    • Demonstrations of cavage (truffle finding) with the pig "Babar".
    • Hérault truffle discovery workshop and truffle butter demonstration. Hosted by Claire Martin de Foresta and organized by the Syndicat des producteurs de truffes de l'Hérault in the town hall's Salle du Conseil
  • 11am: Inauguration
  • 11:30am - 2pm - 3pm - 4pm: Cavage demonstrations* with the pig "Babar"

All day:

  • Buy your truffles as soon as the church bells ring at 8:30am.
  • Assess the quality of your truffles at the stand of the Syndicat des Producteurs de Truffes de l'Hérault.
  • Visit the animated Provencal crib, set up in the medieval church.
  • Enjoy the local produce on offer from the many exhibitors.
  • Win prizes by answering questions from the microphone host.

Escapade in the heart of the village

Lovers of fine stonework or enthusiasts of festivals and traditions, the Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole Tourist Office suggests an escapade in Saint-Geniès-des-Mourgues.

Follow our guide for a discovery of the village's heritage. Taste the calm of its alleys, the charm of its stone houses, most of whose facades have been restored, and visit its thousand-year-old abbey, whose parish church keeps the memory alive.
