Actions to be continued in 2025
On the occasion of November 25, 2025, the city and metropolis of Montpellier are renewing their public awareness initiatives concerning violence against women:
- Countering sexist and sexual cyber-harassment: the city of Montpellier, in partnership with the Rectorat de l'Académie de Montpellier, the Médiathèque Emile Zola and CIDFF 34, are organizing an awareness-raising day for Montpellier middle and high schools on sexist and sexual cyber-violence (event not open to the public and reserved for school audiences).
- Countering menstrual precariousness: the Metropole is renewing its distribution of sanitary protection to local female students, in partnership with the Montpellier CROUS and the Association Montpelliéraine des Étudiants Sages-Femmes. The aim is to offer students the chance to try out washable sanitary protection by giving them a pair of panties, a pad and a menstrual cup. These distributions are also an opportunity to raise awareness of waste prevention and sustainable hygiene

Montpellier united all year round against violence against women
La Ville, la Métropole et le CCAS de Montpellier act all year long in favor of the fight against violence against women :
- The Centre Elisabeth Bouissonnade welcomes, guides and provides accommodation for women victims of violence and their children;
- The city of Montpellier supports local associations, carriers of field actions, on the theme of women's rights and the fighting violence against women ;
- All year round, the city of Montpellier distributes the brochure Parlez-en in establishments open to the public. This brochure lists the emergency numbers and support available in the event of violence against women, sexist, sexual, LGBT+phobic violence and violence against minors;
- Angela: The city of Montpellier, in partnership with the CCI, is developing a network of private and public refuge establishments, united under the name "dispositif Angela", which is committed to combating street harassment and feelings of insecurity in the public space. CIDFF 34 is raising awareness in these establishments to ensure that victims of street harassment receive an appropriate and caring welcome;
- Each year, the city of Montpellier gives Montpellier women the chance to learn self-defense: 10 sessions of 6 classes each year give 120 Montpellier women free access to the basics of self-defense. The courses are run by qualified instructors who are familiar with violence against women, under the auspices of the Nuage association, set up by legal and mental health professionals to provide information and guidance to victims of sexual violence.
3919: free helpline for women victims of violence
The 3919, Violences Femmes Info, is the national reference number for listening to and guiding women victims of violence. 3919 is the first point of contact for all women victims of gender-based violence. Depending on their situation, women are referred to the local or national partner associations best able to provide a response or support.
Calls can concern all types of gender-based violence: domestic violence, sexual violence, forced marriages, female genital mutilation, violence in the workplace, etc.
The 3919 is:
- a free, anonymous number;
- a number accessible 24/7;
- a number accessible to the deaf and hard-of-hearing;
- a number reachable by mobile or landline phone in mainland France and overseas departments ;
- a team of professional counsellors who provide information on what to do when faced with a situation of violence;
- a number that also targets the victims' entourage and the professionals concerned.
Nouveau : un bouton "SOS" sur l'appli M'Ticket TaM
À l’occasion de la Journée internationale pour l’élimination de la violence à l’égard des femmes, TaM Voyages et la Métropole ont déployé une nouvelle fonctionnalité destinée à renforcer la sécurité des usagers du réseau : le bouton SOS.
Cette initiative s’inscrit dans une démarche globale de prévention et d’accompagnement des victimes et des témoins d’un acte malveillant.
Cette solution d’alerte est opérationnelle sur l’ensemble du réseau TaM, pendant ses horaires de fonctionnement. Accessible directement depuis l’écran d’accueil de l’application M’Ticket, le bouton SOS permet aux victimes et aux témoins d’alerter instantanément les équipes TaM. L’alerte, transmise de manière confidentielle, déclenche immédiatement la prise en charge de la demande.
Comment ça marche ?
- L’usager active le dispositif en appuyant sur le bouton SOS dans l’application M’Ticket. L’alerte peut être transmise par appel vocal ou par message écrit.
- Elle transite par une plateforme sécurisée via l’identifiant M’Ticket, puis est traitée par un opérateur du Poste de commandement d'information et de sécurisation TaM, qui déclenche l’intervention la plus adaptée de la Police Métropolitaine des Transports, des équipes TaM ou autres forces de l’ordre. Ce signalement permet une intervention rapide des équipes. En cas d’alerte déclenchée hors périmètre ou en dehors des horaires du réseau, le voyageur est informé de l’indisponibilité du service et invité à contacter les services d’urgence :
- le 112 (numéro d’urgence européen)
- le 114 (numéro national d’urgence pour les personnes sourdes, malentendantes, aphasiques ou souffrant de troubles de la parole)
Le bouton SOS est strictement réservé aux situations d’urgence réelles sur le réseau TaM. Toute utilisation abusive, malveillante ou inappropriée pouvant perturber le fonctionnement du dispositif ou retarder la prise en charge d’autres alertes est passible de poursuites.
L’enregistrement des données factuelles (date, heure, localisation) constitue par ailleurs un appui essentiel en cas de procédure judiciaire engagée à la suite d’un acte de harcèlement.
