"Pierre Soulages. La rencontre" unfolds over 1,000 m², creating a continuity between the exhibition rooms and the museum's permanent Soulages galleries. The exhibition brings together around 120 paintings, works on paper, copper, bronze and glass, and shows Soulages' plastic, formal, theoretical and friendly encounters with art history and the art of his time.

Throughout the exhibition, alongside Soulages' works, visitors will discover a selection of canvases signed by great names in the history of art that preceded him - such as Rembrandt, Zurbarán, Courbet, Cézanne, Van Gogh, Mondrian, Picasso - as well as significant encounters that peppered the artist's life - such as Hans Hartung, Anna- Eva Bergman, Pierrette Bloch and Zao Wou-Ki.

As an epilogue to the exhibition, the Musée Fabre invites visitors to discover different aspects of Pierre Soulages' work through virtual reality, via a fifteen-minute immersive experience, co-produced by Lucid Realities. From his Conques studio and through the Musée Fabre's permanent galleries, visitors will be poetically transported into the artist's world, accompanied by his own words on art (spoken by Isabelle Huppert) and his career.

To coincide with the exhibition, the museum is opening its new bookshop-boutique, featuring a selection of objects, books and catalogs selected by the museum teams.

The museum will now house "BOCA", a café-restaurant on the forecourt side. Here, visitors will be able to enjoy a flexible and convivial culinary experience, from lunch to dinner, with quality, original and varied cuisine.
