A scheme extended from 2020

The Coup de pouce jeune scheme enables over 3,000 young people aged 6 to 16 to benefit from this €50 aid every year. Dozens of associations have signed up to this scheme.

The City of Montpellier wishes to continue its support for associations present and active on its territory, and to encourage the practice of sports, cultural and leisure activities, by renewing its financial aid scheme for a first membership to an association working in these fields. The "Coup de pouce jeune" also aims to maintain social ties for those involved in the associative fabric and its many volunteers, as well as for Montpellier residents.

This measure is a real issue in terms of economic support for the most precarious families, in order to give their children access to these practices, which are vectors of self-fulfilment, health and integration for young people.

Safi N'Diaye, sponsor of the scheme

With her impressive track record, Safi N'Diaye is an ideal godmother for this operation: she has been crowned champion of France several times and has long been a member of the French women's rugby XV team (winner of the VI Nations Tournament several times, participation in several World Cups, more than 70 caps for Les Bleues, involvement in her sport's governing bodies...).

Alongside her career as a top-level athlete, she has solid professional experience as a specialized educator. She possesses values such as a taste for effort, surpassing oneself and a sense of team spirit. She is also particularly sensitive to social issues, to problems in working-class neighborhoods and to sport as a lever for social cohesion and integration. This athlete embodies a true ambassador for Montpellier's youth.

For the City of Montpellier, she will be promoting the "Coup de pouce jeune" program, as well as public policies geared towards youth and sport, through interventions in schools, in working-class neighborhoods, and in various sports associations in Montpellier and the Metropole to share her experience on the mental, health and group cohesion benefits of sporting practice....

"I was lucky enough to grow up in a family where practicing a sporting or cultural activity was as important as succeeding in one's studies. It was a way of growing up well, discovering others and the world, building yourself up. That's why I wanted to support the "Coup de pouce jeune" operation, which invites all 6-16 year-olds to take the first step. And who knows? The first time I went to a rugby training session, I never thought I'd one day make it my profession, start a career..."
